Cross River State NANTS leadership and members embarked on environmental sanitation and health advocacy campaigns in the markets today in collaboration with the State Ministry of Health, the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON), the World Health Organization (WHO), all law enforcement Agencies in the state and other relevant organizations including the media. NANTS action has been highly commended by the State Government represented by the State Commissioner herself who in person participated in the walk and market advocacy where were freely distributed to traders and other citizens who are mobilized against the coronavirus, Lassa fever and other contaminants.
The state Director of the WHO and the Director of SON and representatives of NAFDAC applauded NANTS for taking the initiative while calling on other organizations to emulate NANTS in ensuring that substandard and deficient products are eradicated from the markets while fake food items are avoided. Edible commodities must be well preserved through organically hygienic methods to avoid the escalation and consumption of cancerous food and proliferation of substance induced edible commodities in the markets. Private sector organizations and individuals were also called upon to assist NANTS in the various States to engage in such health oriented missions to keep both environments and food sold in the markets free of health hazards. Health is wealth! “NANTS, indeed the heartbeat of the Nation’s Economy”.
