Dr. Kolade’s death marks the end of an era for Nigeria — an era defined by exemplary leadership, moral rectitude, and unwavering commitment to national development. As a veteran broadcaster, diplomat, and corporate leader, he embodied the values of honesty, professionalism, and public service that Nigeria urgently needs today.
President of NANTS, Dr. Ken Ukaoha, described Dr. Kolade as “a man of unblemished integrity whose life and work will continue to inspire generations of Nigerians.” He noted that Dr. Kolade’s passion for ethical leadership and institutional discipline set a benchmark for both public and private sector governance.
Significantly, Dr. Kolade was appointed in 2009 as one of the National Advisers of NANTS, a role in which he helped to uphold the Association’s enduring commitment to transparency and integrity. His counsel and wisdom were instrumental in shaping NANTS’ ethical foundation.
It would be recalled that in 2011, when NANTS was invited to submit a budget proposal for potential funding from the Federal Ministry of Trade and Industry, it was Dr. Kolade’s wise counsel that restrained the Association. He cautioned that such financial dependence could compromise NANTS’ autonomy and weaken its independent voice on national advocacy matters. His foresight preserved the integrity and moral standing of the Association, ensuring that NANTS remained a credible voice for traders and national reform.
Dr. Ukaoha noted that, “Dr. Kolade will always be remembered for his forthrightness, humility, and principled guidance. His contributions to NANTS went beyond advice — they were moral compasses that shaped our values and direction.”
NANTS joins millions of Nigerians in mourning this irreplaceable loss and extends heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, and all who were touched by his legacy of service.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family in due course. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
Signed: Dr. Ken Ukaoha
President, National Association of Nigerian Traders (NANTS)
