NANTS today 9th November, 2023 had a training on Commodity Aggregation, Collective Produce Sales and Marketing for EAs and CBAs under the project’s new catchment LGAs.
The training was intended to build the capacity of participants on agri business through commodity aggregation and harnessing collective produce sales and marketing strategies for premium pricing of produce.
Courtesy of the NANTS-AGRA market intervention, records of success have been shared especially by farmers who have adjusted to ideal good practices for quality grain produce resulting from acquired capacity building trainings and follow up.
The training also highlighted the challenges and solutions to smooth commodity sales between value chain actors resulting from observed transactional mischiefs that causes tension in business relationships which includes but not limited: to the addition of false weight during commodity bagging (by the incorporation of sand, stones, rice husks, and even soaking of cereals and legumes especially), use of poisonous chemicals for preservation, and aggregation of different grain varieties among others.
Hence, the reason NANTS is intensifying effort to consistently build the capacity of farmers on best harvesting and produce market practices for better and sustainable business relationships with offtakers/processors within the focus value chain crops in Niger State.
