PRESS STATEMENT BY NANTS OVER GOVERNMENT’S INCREASE OF PRICE OF PETROL AND THE CALL FOR STRIKE ACTION BY LABOUR - The National Association of Nigerian Traders NANTS

Gentlemen of the Press, 

The National Association of Nigerian Traders (NANTS) has invited you this evening over the subject of fuel price increase and the strike action planned by Labour against tomorrow. We are using this medium to appeal to all sectors and shades of representation in the Nigerian economy to show enough understanding and bear with the Federal Government on the recent increase in the price of petrol.

 Although Labour represented essentially by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) has noted critical issues especially regarding the socio-economic impacts of the price increase on the workers and the Nigerian masses, we however implore all parties to refrain from taking any extreme side that would rather complicate the situation and multiply the sordid effects that the price increase may bring on the Nigerian populace.
